Welcome to the start of the 2016-2017 school year! The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time, not only for students, but for families as well as our faculty and staff. In a few short weeks, it will be our pleasure to welcome the Jefferson students back to school. Our faculty, staff and Board of Education have been working very hard over the summer to properly prepare for the upcoming school year, working hard to continue the important work of the district’s mission:
“All who enter will be educated to their fullest potential in a safe and healthy environment that allows and encourages each individual to develop the necessary skills to be productive and successful members of society.”
Jefferson’s faculty and staff will return on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 for two days of staff development and preparation for the opening day of school. The first official start day for students will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016. In August, parent(s)/ guardian(s) will be receiving information in the mail regarding pertinent student information.
As we begin the new school year, we renew our focus on supporting the most critical factor impacting student achievement which is staff. This summer we have been working on several initiatives, including but not limited to: Continuation of the PBIS program, staff and leadership professional development, implementation of the distance learning program, instructional technology planning and implementation, FOCUS status planning and many more. We are very impressed with the progress in the academic setting that we have accomplished in the past year and continue to be excited about the positive direction of the district. We will also be welcoming new employees to the ranks of faculty and staff as of August 31, 2016. We are excited to be welcoming them as part of our team!
In the next few weeks the Board of Education will be working hard with the Administrative team to reflect on the accomplishments of the 2015-2016 school year, refocus and develop a plan for the 2016-2017 school year. We are excited about the upcoming school year and have the common goal of providing a strong educational program that fosters students’ achievement and success.
As always, I would like to thank the parent(s)/ guardian(s) and the Jefferson Community for all of their support for the district.
